This is a hiking album and it may boring to most, so click delete.
On 22nd Feb 2010 four of us drove to Mt. Samat to explore 3 trails we seen before on our walk around Samat. We parked the car again at the former Pres. Marcos house. The 1st trail started right there. It turned out all three trails go to the very top where thick bamboo is growing. Apparently this bamboo is used to make BBQ sticks which some people dry on the road to the Mt. Samat Shrine.
With time to spare we continued to the ‘Triple Intersection’ which is right on the watershed boundary ridge, running north-south, between the Tala River and the Catmon River systems. This ridge also connects Mt. Samat to Mt. Mariveles. The trails there to Mt. Mariveles and up to Mt. Samat were unsatisfactory, grown over. The trail we used continues down to the Catmon River and I believe is the former Trail 429. We called it a day here and returned to the car.
